At The Gardner School, we love giving back to our local communities. It’s a value shared by our leadership, teachers, students, and families.
Each year, teachers and students spend time talking about the importance of supporting our local communities and helping others in need. This year, our students collected toys, gathered food, and wrote holiday cards—all in an effort to spread joy and love during the holidays.
How The Gardner Supports Our Local Communities During the Holidays
Here’s a look at how our schools joined together to give hope to others this holiday season:
The Gardner School of Nashville (TN)—Our TGS Nashville students worked to “fill the pantry” for Donelson Middle School so that students and families will have food that will last them the entire holiday break.
The Gardner School of Midtown (Nashville, TN)—TGS Midtown students participated in Toys for Tots this year. They also collected baby dolls to give to local nursing home patients who are suffering from Alzheimer’s. This year, they will be Santa’s elves to both young and old.
The Gardner School of Franklin (TN)—Our TGS Franklin students adopted three of The Salvation Army’s Forgotten Angels. Students brought in toys and clothes for families over the course of the month.
The Gardner School of Brentwood (TN) —Our TGS Brentwood students adopted 10 Salvation Army Angel Tree children (one for each classroom). Students enjoyed talking about the importance of giving back during the holiday season.
The Gardner School of Chicago—Bucktown (IL)—TGS Bucktown students completed their winter coat drive and participated in Toys for Tots until Christmas.
The Gardner School of Chicago—West Loop (IL)—TGS West Loop students also participated in Toys for Tots. It’s been incredible to see the pride and happiness our Acceleration A students have shown!
The Gardner School of Chicago—Lincoln Park (IL)—TGS Lincoln Park students participated in a toy donation drive for Lurie Children’s Hospital—a pediatric specialty hospital located a few miles away from the school.
The Gardner School of Schaumburg (IL)—Over the past few weeks, TGS Schaumburg students made holiday cards for families who are in the NICU center of the local hospital. They also conducted a food drive for the Schaumburg Food Pantry.
The Gardner School of Naperville (IL)—TGS Naperville students spent the past few weeks collecting donations for Toys for Tots.
The Gardner School of Oakbrook (IL)—TGS Oak Brook students also spent the past few weeks collecting donations for Toys for Tots.
The Gardner School of Lincolnshire (IL) —TGS Lincolnshire worked with their local food pantry to gather food donations for families in the area to enjoy over the holiday break.
The Gardner School of Glenview-Northbrook (IL)—This year, our TGS Glenview-Northbrook students collected gently used coats and new hats and gloves. These were donated to local shelters in need.
The Gardner School of Eagan (MN) —Earlier this month, TGS Eagan students participated in making tie blankets for Crisis Nursery, an organization that collects blankets for children, especially during the winter months. Students also participated in Toys for Tots this month.
The Gardner School of Minnetonka (MN)—TGS Minnetonka students collected donations for their annual Toys for Tots drive.
The Gardner School of Edina (MN)—TGS Edina students also gathered donations for Toys for Tots again this year.
The Gardner School of Herndon (VA) —TGS Herndon students spent the past month participating in Toys for Tots and preparing a canned food collection for a local pantry.
The Gardner School of Dublin (OH)—TGS Dublin participated in The Salvation Army Angel Tree Drive. Over the past few weeks, students brought in toys and clothes for families with help from a special little Elf.
The Gardner School of Blue Ash (OH)—TGS Blue Ash participated in The Salvation Army’s Adopt-A-Family. This was the school’s largest donation collection to date.
The Gardner School of Louisville (KY)—Students at TGS Louisville joined together to sponsor two families from The Cabbage Patch House—a local organization that provides educational and counseling services to equip and empower at-risk children, youth, and their families.

The Gardner School loves celebrating the holiday season by showing support in a variety of ways to our local communities. Even our team at the corporate office joined in on the fun by collecting and wrapping presents for the Grace Works Ministries Manger program.
