Blackberry Farm

Is good weather in the forecast and the outdoor family time calling your name? Pack up the family and head out to one of your neighborhood’s best spots for playing, learning, and exploring nature. To inspire your trip, we asked our TGS families about their favorite kid-friendly outdoor activities in Naperville, Illinois. Let’s see what they had to say!

1. Cantigny Park

Not just any park, Cantigny Park features art exhibits, gardens, and a cafe. Be sure to look ahead to program events to plan your visit. The park hosts the Inchworms Early Childhood Program, a Movies in the Park series, and plenty of walking tours. You’re sure to see something new every visit.

2. Blackberry Farm

Though this activity is seasonal, it’s well worth the trip! Your child will enjoy the steam train, carousel, pony rides, adventure playground, and so much more. Explore rural life on a farm while learning and playing the day away. For a special bonus, buy some feed and interact one-on-one with the animals! For your own dining, you can bring a picnic basket to enjoy on a shaded picnic table or stop at the concession stand.

3. The Morton Arboretum

The Morton Arboretum must be experienced to understand its full beauty. Its collection of sculptures and art installations, coupled with its focus on conservation and education, makes this arboretum the perfect outdoor activity for children. Your family can take part in children’s and family programs, such as Art in the Garden or Science of the Seasons, or you can come for one of the garden’s cultural festivals. You won’t be disappointed.

4. Naperville Riverwalk

The Naperville Riverwalk is considered the “Crown Jewel” of the city, featuring nearly two miles of brick paths, fountains, bridges, event spaces, artwork, and much more. Full of beauty and the natural serenity that comes with being in nature, the Riverwalk is a popular destination for families to play, reflect, and relax.
