Each year, The Gardner School prioritizes charitable giving at each of our locations throughout the holiday season. With the help of our generous families, each school selects a local community organization to support. This enables TGS students, parents, and teachers to come together and help teach preschoolers the value of giving back to others. In 2022, each of our TGS locations participated in a variety of activities to care for those in need.
Making the Season Brighter with Toys
Toys for Tots matches children in need with holiday gifts for them to cherish. The Gardner School serves as a collection site for Toys for Tots in several communities. Families involve their preschoolers in shopping and selecting gifts for a child like them. Giving to others can help children understand the deeper meaning behind exchanging presents during the holidays.

Supporting Families with Basic Needs
While many organizations focus on providing children with toys, basic needs can still go unmet for families who need support. TGS held diaper drives at a few schools to stockpile and distribute this essential daily need. As most parents know, diaper costs can be exorbitant. Affording diapers can be extremely difficult for a family experiencing financial challenges. Often, TGS families will have extra packages of diapers that their child has outgrown. We collect this valuable resource to help support other families in our communities.
Selecting Angels to Delight and Surprise
You’ve probably seen volunteers from The Salvation Army holding their signature red kettles and ringing bells during the holiday season. While their bell-ringing program is a well-known charitable offering, The Salvation Army also coordinates numerous efforts to support those in need during the holiday season and all year round. Their Angel Tree Program is an initiative that supports families and children. In a typical year, The Salvation Army puts new clothes and toys under the tree for one million children.
The Gardner School was happy to help serve as a collection site for the program at some of our school locations. Participating schools displayed a special tree with angel ornaments on it from The Salvation Army. Each angel represents a toy or gift for a child. Families are encouraged to select an angel and purchase a toy for a child.
