At The Gardner School, our goals are not confined to the classroom. We want you and your child to succeed inside and outside of school, and we are always looking for new opportunities to equip parents with the tools they need. Some of the key ways we help moms and dads handle real life are by communicating often, sharing helpful resources, and practicing at-home skills in the classroom.

Communicating Openly and Often

Communication is key. Our teachers and administrative staff communicate with parents openly and often. We share updates on what your child is doing in class, how they are progressing, and what they learned about that day. These updates keep moms in-the-know, helping you to navigate learning and development at home. Moms can use this information to start conversations with your children, find new books and tools to complement lessons, and develop strong relationships with your child’s teachers.

Sharing Helpful Tips and Advice

It’s our mission to give families a foundation of go-to resources to learn about fundamental concepts, such as helping your baby learn to walk, teaching your child sign language, regulating your child’s sleep schedule, and numerous other topics.

We share these helpful tips on our website’s blog, Instagram, and Facebook. Parents also receive our Small Talk newsletter that includes recent blog articles, advice from our school directors, and fun outside resources to explore with your child. We anticipate questions that parents may have and use that opportunity to provide you with the answers you need and the tools to move forward.

When times of uncertainty arise, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, we continue working to provide families with the resources you need to handle life at home. We made it our mission to support families throughout this time, including those who are working from home while caring for children. One example of this effort is our TGS at Home series, where we shared videos of our teachers reading stories, recipes to make with your child, activities to do at home, and more.

Recommending Books, Games, Tools, and Activities

On our website, social media, and newsletter, you’ll find countless recommendations for developmentally-appropriate resources for your child. With everything from the best books for story time to games and activities for at-home learning, we love sharing our favorites so that you and your child can enjoy them together at home. You can also find fun and easy activities to do with your child on our Pinterest page.

Developing New Skills in the Classroom

When your child is at school, they are playing and learning their way toward new developmental milestones. We use an education-based curriculum that encourages self-confidence and communication. These concepts help your child to develop skills that they can use at home, such as manners, self-expression, and independence.

Additionally, our enrichment classes give parents the opportunity to enroll your child in budding interests, such as sports, dance, cooking, and many others, during the school day. This allows children to explore new activities without taking time away from their evenings at home.
