Because teachers have a special passion for educating young minds, teachers build strong bonds with their students. At The Gardner School, one of the greatest principles we teach is how to respect and honor peers, teachers and others. Because teachers love and care for your children on a daily basis, it’s a perfect time to have your children show their appreciation. Here are a few creative ideas to help you and your family demonstrate your gratitude for their early childhood education teachers, especially during the holiday season.
Adult Coloring Books
Teachers love to color! Studies have shown that coloring books help people relax and tap into their creative side. Do some research to see what your teacher would like best — whimsical flowers, Disney characters, American history, etc. There are so many out there to choose from. Pair the book with coloring pencils, markers or crayons.
Anything with a teacher’s name or monogram is a big hit! Items such as tumblers, mugs, notepads or stationary are a great way to showcase your thoughtfulness. Even a photo book with pictures of the class and events throughout the year can help your teacher remember special moments. Your children can easily become involved in this gift by choosing the pictures and designing the photo book with you.
Everyone loves a good stocking stuffer with handy gifts people continue to use but don’t like to buy! Fill a stocking full of little items that your teacher will enjoy receiving such as:
- Lotion or hand sanitizer
- Cozy socks
- Nice pair of gloves or scarf
- Favorite snacks
- $5 gift certificate to Starbucks or a local coffee shop around the corner
- Playing cards
- Chapstick or lip gloss
If you know your teacher likes cooking, place a few handy utensils in the stocking, or if she likes sports like tennis or golf, purchase a set of balls for her to use later on. Does she have an Apple watch? Give her a new band. Customizing is key for any gift!
These are just three simple ways to show your family’s gratitude for your child’s teacher and an easy way for your children to get involved with gift giving. Even a hand-drawn card from your child is a special way to show how much your child loves their teacher! If you wish to explore more ideas, check out our Pinterest board: Teacher Appreciation Ideas.
