Father’s Day is a special occasion to honor and appreciate the love, care, and guidance from fathers and other important adults in a child’s life. Whether you’re celebrating dad, grandpa, a stepfather, uncle, or another fatherly figure, we have a few memorable gift ideas for celebrating the special guys you’re honoring. Engaging children in crafting gifts for their dads not only helps them express their creativity but also strengthens family bonds. These five easy Father’s Day crafts will help dads feel appreciated and preschoolers proud of their work.

Handprint High-Five Card

What better way to show appreciation than with a personalized card? For this craft, children can create a unique handprint “high-five” card that represents the special connection between them and their dads. Begin by folding a piece of colored cardstock in half to create the card base. Then, have the child dip their hand in washable paint and carefully place it on the front of the card, fingers spread apart, to resemble a high-five. Allow the paint to dry. Once it’s dry, you can help your child write a loving message inside.

“Dad Rocks” Picture Frame

This craft combines creativity with a touch of nature. Begin by collecting smooth stones of various sizes during a family outing or from your child’s surroundings. Using acrylic paints, let your child paint the stones in vibrant colors. Once they’ve dried, a grown-up can hot glue the stones to a simple picture frame. Let your child choose a favorite picture of them with their dad and place it inside the frame as a memento.

Colorful Pen Holder

Start with a plastic or glass cup, and level it up from there for the perfect Father’s Day craft. Use acrylic paint markers, stickers, and even yarn to create a receptacle for writing utensils that will be put in a place of pride in any office. To prepare the gift for presentation, grab some small pieces of paper and a pen. Together with your child, brainstorm encouraging messages and expressions of love to write to Dad. Fold them up and fill the cup! The recipient will love the kind words just as much as the object itself.

All About My Dad

Print out a series of questions to ask your child about their dad. You can include questions like “What’s Dad’s favorite activity?” or “What is Dad’s favorite meal?” You can also ask questions about their father’s age, likes and dislikes, and a few things he always says. You may be surprised by your child’s answers! Pair this questionnaire with illustrations created by your child and a gift that makes Dad feel appreciated for all that he does.

Hand-Painted Coffee Mug

Whether your child’s father is a Chemex, single-origin, Keurig, or espresso guy, (or even a decaf, hot chocolate, or black tea fan) he’ll appreciate a personalized mug to sip his morning brew from. Together with your children, visit a pottery painting spot to create an artistic vessel that Dad is sure to love! He’ll definitely appreciate a Father’s Day craft that’s both creative and practical.
