When the weather just isn’t cooperating, Chicago families love having family-friendly activities to do indoors. Luckily, the Bucktown area is full of exciting places to explore! We asked our TGS parents about their favorite kid-friendly indoor activities in Bucktown, and here are a few that are at the top of their lists! We hope you see a few of your favorites, too, and maybe even find a new spot to try with the whole family.

1. Altitude Chicago

Get ready to bounce the day away at Altitude Trampoline Park. With a dedicated toddler time from 9 AM to 11 AM Monday through Friday, you can make sure that your little one bounces safely. You can even plan your next birthday party or event here! Thanks to a wide range of activity spaces, Altitude Trampoline Park is great for kids of any age.

2. WhirlyBall Chicago

For another active family outing idea, try WhirlyBall Chicago! Parents say they love going here for bowling and grabbing a bite to eat. This whole place is focused on play, so you can stop by for bowling, Jenga, cornhole, ping pong, laser tag, and more. We hear the “U Shake It” crispy churro bag is a crowd-pleaser with the little ones. Check out the menu for more goodies.

3. Bucktown-Wicker Park Library

When looking for children’s programming in your area, the library is always a great resource. From story time to craft sessions, the Bucktown-Wicker Park Library offers free, hands-on activities that will engage your child’s mind. Head on over to the website to view upcoming events!

4. Windy City Fieldhouse

The Windy City Fieldhouse hosts a youth program, the Windy City Sports Academy, for children ages 2 to 14. The program’s focus is on strengthening your child’s skills in various types of sports while focusing on education rather than competition. Boasting a “safe, fun, and encouraging environment,” this program builds your child’s sportsmanship, teamwork, gross motor skills, and so much more.

5. Old Town School of Folk Music

Do you have a music lover in your house? The Old Town School of Folk Music provides an opportunity to learn about and celebrate music, dance, theater, and visual arts for all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. This inclusive organization facilitates more than 700 accredited classes, making it the place for your child to learn about the way communities all over the world express themselves through art.

The Gardner School Loves Partnering with Bucktown Families

Partnering with parents is a central part of The Gardner School’s philosophy. We are here to help you and your child thrive within your community.
