At The Gardner School, we believe in celebrating childhood every day, but Week of the Young Child (WOTYC) gives us a special opportunity to shine an even brighter spotlight on the magic, curiosity, and limitless potential of our students!
What is Week of the Young Child?
Hosted annually by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), Week of the Young Child is a week-long celebration that recognizes the importance of early learning, young children, their teachers, families, and communities. It’s a meaningful reminder that the early years are the foundation for a child’s future, and that every moment counts.
This year, each day of the week brought new themes and opportunities for our students to explore, express themselves, and connect with their classmates and teachers. Across all The Gardner School locations, our classrooms came alive with themed activities that celebrated creativity, movement, music, nutrition, and families.
Music Monday
Our hallways echoed with song as children explored rhythm, instruments, and movement! From sing-alongs, music parades, instrument exploration and a lot of dancing, music filled the air with joy and energy.
Tasty Tuesday
Our little chefs had hands-on fun exploring healthy foods and learning about nutrition. Snack-making, food sorting, and colorful fruit-themed crafts encouraged curiosity around what fuels our bodies.
Work Together Wednesday
Collaboration took center stage with group projects that built teamwork and friendships. Whether stacking blocks, solving puzzles, working on art, or working on an “ocean cleanup”, students discovered the power of cooperation.
Artsy Thursday
Creativity bloomed as students explored painting, drawing, and crafts in new and exciting ways! Each masterpiece was a reflection of imagination and self-expression.
Family Friday
We celebrated our amazing Gardner families who support and guide our students. We loved getting to preview our upcoming Camp Gardner and can’t wait to celebrate with you again soon!
