Valentine's Day Crafts for Preschoolers

Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to encourage friendship and creativity in your preschooler’s day. With some simple materials and a dash of imagination, you can help your child celebrate this sweet holiday with engaging activities! Here are three quick and easy Valentine’s ideas perfect for little hands.  

Friendship Bracelets  🫶 

Friendship bracelets are a fun way for preschoolers to show kindness and build relationships with their friends. They can also build their fine motor skills as they put the bracelets together. This is best suited for children ages 3 and up. 

What you’ll need:  

  • Pipe cleaners or stretchy string  
  • Beads in various sizes and colors (heart-shaped beads add an extra Valentine’s touch!)  

How to do it:  

  1. Cut the stretchy string to fit your child’s wrist or use a pipe cleaner for an easier option  
  1. Let your child choose and thread beads onto the string or pipe cleaner  
  1. Once finished, tie off the string securely or twist the pipe cleaner into a loop  

Love Bug Headbands 🐞 

Your adorable love bug headbands can be made using construction paper and pipe cleaners!  

What you’ll need:  

  • Construction paper (red, pink, and white work well)  
  • Child safe scissors  
  • Glue or tape 
  • Pipe cleaners 
  • Markers, stickers, or glitter for decoration  

How to do it:  

  1. Cut a strip of paper to fit around your child’s head like a headband, use glue or tape to adjust the size  
  1. Attach your pipe cleaner antennae to the front of your headband 
  1. With adult supervision, cut out hearts to attach to the ends of the antennae  
  1. Decorate the base of your headband with markers, stickers, and glitter. You now have your very own little love bugs!  

Handprint Heart Cards for Family and Friends 💌 

A personalized handmade card that you can give to your family, friends, or bring to a local fire house! These personalized cards are a great way to spread love this Valentine’s Day!  

What you’ll need:  

  • Construction paper 
  • Washable paint 
  • Markers/any decorations 
  • Glue 

 How  to do it:  

  1. Fold your piece of construction paper into a card shape 
  1. Have your child paint their hands and press them onto the card in a heart shape (try having them put their thumbs and index fingers pointing together!)  
  1. Decorate the card with glitters, paint, and other Valentine’s Day themed items 
  1. Finally, add a personalized sweet message
