Central Park Campus Leadership

Hannah Miller

School Director

How long have you been with TGS?
I have been with TGS since August 2020!

Roles Served with TGS:
I started with TGS as a lead teacher in the preschool classroom. I helped open our TGS River North location in Chicago as one of their first teachers. I was the Executive School Director at TGS DTC, and I am now extremely excited to serve as the Executive School Director of The Gardner School of Central Park!

What is your educational background?
I have my bachelor’s degree in media advertising from Indiana University. I also have my master’s degree in Early Childhood Education Administration and Leadership from the University of Arizona’s Global Campus.

What made you decide to have a career in education?
I decided to have a career in education because I wanted to pursue a career that I was excited about every day. My true passion is working with children, and I love getting to wake up each morning and do what I love. I love getting to form relationships with every child and their family in our schools.

What makes you laugh about kids?
Their contagious laughs. They never fail to put a smile on my face!

What do you love most about working with infants through the age of 5?
I love how curious every single child is. I love how their minds work and it is so fun to be a part of how they will continue to grow and develop throughout their lives. Infants through the age of 5 is some of the most important years of a child’s life and it is great knowing I can have an impact during that time.

What is your favorite part of the day at TGS?
My favorite part of the day at TGS is every single morning, getting the chance to welcome every family that comes into TGS and getting to see all the smiling faces that walk through our doors.

What do you love most about TGS?
I love how TGS is a family, and each school has its own sense of community. It is my goal as an educator, to truly make a difference in each child and leave a lasting impact. I love that TGS allows me to do so.

What is your fondest memory of TGS thus far?
My fondest memory of TGS thus far has been leaving one TGS location and moving to the next. Leaving one location allowed me the opportunity to truly understand how much of an impact I was able to make, and I am so excited that I could move across the country and stay within the TGS family.

What inspires you?
My biggest inspiration is my parents. They have been the most supportive figures in my life, and I am so lucky to have them.

What is your passion or passions?
My passions are truly working with young children and getting to know not only them but also their families. It is my goal to get to know each child, and their family, individually and form a meaningful relationship with everyone in my school!

What does the term “Where Learning Begins” mean to you?
“Where Learning Beings” means to me the youngest point of a child’s life. They can understand more than we know at such a young age. I feel lucky that we have the opportunity to make a difference in the earliest stages of their growth, development and learning.

How important is early childhood education?
Early childhood education is of the upmost importance! It is where young children being to learn, grow and develop. I am so happy that I can be a part of some of their youngest years.

What would you tell new parents who are apprehensive about leaving their infant in the care of someone else for the first time?
I would tell new parents that TGS is more than a school. It is a community and a sense of family. We feel so lucky that they are entrusting us with their children, and we cannot wait to teach them and watch them grow while they are in our care.

Roles served with TGS:
Assistant Director

What is your educational background?
I have a bachelor’s degree in child psychology from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, and a master’s degree in counseling psychology with a focus on play therapy from the University of Denver.

What made you decide to have a career in education?
From a young age, I loved working with children and knew I wanted to spend my career helping them in some way. After working in a variety of capacities, I landed on education, and from the moment I began, I quickly found it to be incredibly rewarding. To know that I am important to these young children by providing them with loving and supportive care while helping them learn and grow academically is incredibly fulfilling.

What makes you laugh about kids?
I love the innocence and honesty that children bring to every interaction they have. They make me laugh on a daily basis, and my conversations with them are frequently my favorite part of the day.

What do you love most about working with infants through the age of 5?
The innocence and sense of wonder they approach the world with. Everything is new and exciting, so they are capable of trying new things in such a beautiful and unique way.

What is your favorite part of the day at TGS?
Pick-up and drop-off is my favorite part of the day as it allows me to connect with families as a whole and share beautiful moments from the day.

What do you love most about TGS?
I love TGS’s approach to early education. It combines creative and academic learning so children can learn and grow while still having the opportunity to be kids.

What is your fondest memory of TGS thus far?
My fondest memory is the welcoming environment my own children and I experienced from day one! This allowed my children to quickly connect with their teachers and learn and grow from the TGS approach.

What inspires you?
My parents inspire me. They have always had an incredible work ethic and an amazing dedication to their family.

What is your passion or passions?
My passion has always been taking care of others. Providing support and being as helpful as I can be gives me a great sense of accomplishment and fulfillment.

What does the term “Where Learning Begins” mean to you?
I believe that we continue to learn throughout our lifetimes. With that in mind, TGS is where it all starts. We set up our children for success by providing them with an environment to begin their learning journey and develop a love of learning from very early on.

How important is early childhood education?
I believe passionately that early childhood education is of the utmost importance. If a child has a positive experience in learning from a young age, they are so much more likely to succeed throughout their lives.

What would you tell new parents who are apprehensive about leaving their infant in the care of someone else for the first time?
I get it. Leaving your child with someone else takes an incredible amount of strength and trust. But you are providing your child with the opportunity to receive so many benefits in terms of socialization, education, independence, and more. We are always so grateful to you for trusting us and essentially inviting us to be a part of your child’s care team and, by extension, your family.
