S.T.E.A.M. education, which involves a collaborative mix of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics, is vital to our future. In fact, S.T.E.A.M. education programs are changing the classroom landscape for today’s students. Schools and educators who incorporate S.T.E.A.M. education are shaping the everyday experiences for today’s children, preparing them to be excellent problem-solvers, creative collaborators, and thoughtful risk-takers. At The Gardner School, we value S.T.E.A.M. education, and you’ll find S.T.E.A.M. activities infused into our curriculum, daily activities, and Camp Gardner summer program.

The Value of S.T.E.A.M. Education

When looking at the future job market and considering the types of roles our future workforce will need to fill, S.T.E.A.M. education is of extreme value. A recent Georgetown University study on job growth and education requirements in the workforce through the year 2020 found that nearly 55 million jobs could go unfilled due to skill gaps, mainly in the fields of healthcare S.T.E.A.M. -related fields. As more educators and lawmakers consider these statistics, S.T.E.A.M. education continues to be embraced and implemented into curriculums and lesson plans.

Even more, in a constantly-changing world, the importance of creativity in the workforce is getting more and more attention. That’s why art programs are essential in the S.T.E.A.M. learning process, especially with preschoolers and kindergartners.

S.T.E.A.M. Education at The Gardner School

Students at The Gardner School are introduced to various S.T.E.A.M. learning methods and activities each day. Our Creative Curriculum for Infants, Toddlers, and Twos involves learning activities that require active thinking and experimenting to find out how things work. The DLM Curriculum provides optimal learning opportunities for our Preschool and Pre-K programs that strategically help children grasp early literacy, language, math and science concepts. We also offer S.T.E.A.M. enrichment courses, which involve a variety of subjects that help students dig deeper into learning while incorporating their personal passions and interests.

With a solid mix of S.T.E.A.M. learning programs focused on engineering to technology and more, our comprehensive curriculum is designed to help your child reach his or her highest levels of development. We believe our students are the scientists, technology gurus, engineers, artists, and mathematicians of the future. As we continue to embrace and apply S.T.E.A.M. education in the preschool classroom, your child will not only be prepared for kindergarten, but he or she will be better equipped to make a difference in the world.
