Chicago Craft Playdates

March is not only a time for spring weather and fun outdoor activities, but also a time to get crafty! Being National Craft Month, ideas are bringing people together in creative ways, and for all age groups too. Even if you don’t think you have a creative bone in your body, you should try to set a goal to do something new this month! Take your kids to a few places around your area and expand your crafting techniques. Not only will you begin to make fun decor for your household, you might even meet some new friends! Besides, it’s always beneficial to begin teaching your toddler or preschooler how to be a good friend. Below is a few places around town to have a playdate with other preschoolers and toddlers in the Chicago area.

The Paintbrush
The Paintbrush offers kids’ craft classes all year long! Many other art programs with parents or guardians are available for every age too, like Little ART Explorers (1-2) Tiny Artists (18 months), Apprentices (3-5), and more.

Brookfield Zoo
Free for kids under 3, Brookfield Zoo’s Hamill Family Play Zoo offers an animal-focused arts and crafts area for all kinds of projects to be explored! This indoor facility is perfect for a getaway from the winter weather or burning summers.

Michael’s
Join the local Michael’s for craft-time for kids, a 30-minute arts and craft session. It’s a great time to keep the little spring breakers busy with a new project each day! Parent or guardian must remain on premises.

The Art Institute of Chicago
The Art Institute of Chicago is an amazing center for your creative kids to be surrounded by art while working on crafts. Kids up to 14 get in free and can partake in an array of programs. At their Ryan Education Center, a take-home art project can be made!

Kids Clay Room
The Clay Room encourages art enthusiasm for children by working with wet clay and clay tools to create ceramic pieces during their programs. Their hand-building activities are for children ages 3 and up, wheel throwing for ages 9 and up.
