Louisville Holiday Lights

The holiday season is in now full swing, which means that masters of interior and exterior illumination have already been hard at work decking the halls and stringing up lights on any available surface — all roofs, trees, windows, and shrubs must be covered! Here are some great local places to take in spectacular lights and participate in festively fun activities with your little ones.

MEGA Cavern’s Lights Under Louisville: Drive your car through a lit-up cavern filled with holiday characters. Nov 20-Jan 30.

Holiday Exhibitions at the Louisville Slugger Museum: Among the special exhibits are a classic toy show as well as a Rankin/Bass exhibit. Santa Claus appearances on weekends. Both exhibits run through Jan 3.

Kentucky Horse Park Southern Lights Holiday Festival: Drive your car through over four miles of lights! On-foot attractions at the park include train rides, a petting zoo, model trains, and visits from Santa. Open through Dec 23.

Christmas at the Galt House: The hotel is transformed into a holiday wonderland, with dancing bellhops, a Christmas village, the Snow Fairy Princess, and all sorts of festive activities. Through Dec 27.

Fourth Street Live Ice Rink: Ice skating and Santa’s house. Need we say more? Through Dec 23.

Toyland Christmas: 85,000+ lights synced up with Christmas music. Proceeds support Home of the Innocents. Typically open Dec 1-26. Papa John’s night Dec 18-19. Facebook.
