As Camp Gardner wraps up, we reflect on the past few months of summer day care. Our schools can’t believe summer is over, but we are so thankful for our Gardner School children and families that participated this summer. It was truly Full S.T.E.A.M. Ahead!
Our program featured learning about science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics. Learn more here about S.T.E.A.M.. Here are a just a few fun activities we did over the summer to learn more about S.T.E.A.M.!
The Imagination A campers at DC's Gardner School of Herndon enjoyed painting with ice. We taught the different states of matter, and the kids took solids and liquids to the next level with this simple experiment!
During The Gardner School of Dublin’s S.T.E.A.M. activity in Ohio, the children explored technology using the light pad to observe animal x-rays and the different kinds of bones animals have for activity.
The campers in Imagination B at Chicago's Gardner School of Oak Brook practiced their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination with a fun marble maze with legos! Engineering skills help children apply math and science to real world experiences.
Chicago’s Music House Academy visited The Gardner School of West Loop's classes to read Pete the Cat and His Groovy Buttons while using instruments to accompany the story. Our campers enjoyed learning rhythmic skills on the drum. It also helped some of our gross motor skills.
Using math to measure, our Nashville Gardner School of Brentwood Enchantment A campers created a lava lamp using baby oil, water and food coloring! They also learned the way oil and water work together.
And, of course, we were able to get out our energy with bounce houses, learn about the service of military men from a few visitors, felt how it would be to work as a fireman in a firetruck and had enjoyable reading sessions with our own Gardner School parents. We hope your children learned a lot this summer. Though our summer program has ended, S.T.E.A.M. will always be a part of our curriculum throughout the school year.
