Nashville Holiday Lights

The holiday season is in now full swing, which means that masters of interior and exterior illumination have already been hard at work decking the halls and stringing up lights on any available surface — all roofs, trees, windows, and shrubs must be covered! Here are some great local places to take in spectacular lights and participate in festively fun activities with your little ones.

Holiday Lights at Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art: Beautiful lights throughout the grounds and gardens. Live reindeer every night, holiday sweets, and family workshops (build a ginger bread house!). Through Jan 3.

Opryland Hotel: There’s not a more festively illuminated place in town, with over 2 million lights, a countless number of uniquely decorated Christmas trees, and plenty of kid-friendly activities.

Holiday Light Tours with Allstars Limousine: See impressive holiday displays throughout town, from downtown to the Jellystone RV Resort, and residential holiday-light hotspots. These limos come equipped with karaoke for caroling. Through Jan. 2.

Dickens of a Christmas in Downtown Franklin: Sugar plums, warm chestnuts, horse-drawn carriages, and Dickensian characters fill the streets of Historic Downtown Franklin. Victorian costumes much appreciated. Dec 12-13.

Ice rink at Walk of Fame Park: It’s not often you get outdoor skating in Nashville, but Music City plays  host to the 2016 NHL All-Star Game, so there’s a rink adjacent to Bridgestone Arena. As of Dec 12, the rink will open for public skating and be the site of special events and concerts.

Lights on Old Charlotte and Lights on Sparrow Street: These two Williamson County residences (in Franklin and Spring Hill, respectively), put on massive computerized light displays that sync up with holiday music. View the twinkling lights from the comfort of your car, and feel free to make a donation — proceeds benefit Graceworks Ministries. Lights on Old Charlotte runs through Dec 27, while Lights on Sparrow Street runs until Dec 31.
