How long have you been with TGS?
Since June 2023
Roles Served with TGS:
Director in Training (2022 to 2023); Executive Director (2023 to present)
What is your educational background?
I hold a dual bachelor’s degree in mathematics and theater.
What made you decide on a career in education?
I grew up hearing from my mom that she knew I was going to be a teacher. I have always loved working with children, and nearly every job I’ve had in my life was in the sphere of education. I was introduced to the field of early childhood education after college from a friend who had become a toddler teacher. I fell in love with the career and have worked as a lead teacher in nearly every age group. From infants to our kindergarteners, their joy for life and watching them discover the world brings me such inspiration. I love being along for the ride and learning more about how we can support them through that journey.
What makes you laugh about kids?
Children say the darndest things! From the clever quotes of a four-year-old to the developing communication of a toddler and even the facial expressions of an infant, kids just crack me up!
What do you love most about working with infants through the age of 5?
I love watching children light up and get excited about a new experience, particularly when you can see them puzzling through a problem. Plus, nothing beats the snuggles!
What is your favorite part of the day at TGS?
I look forward to any time I can pop by a classroom to play with the kids, hear them laugh, and get to share a moment of mutual joy in our little learners with members of our team.
What do you love most about TGS?
I love the value we are bringing to families and all of the additional events and experiences we get to provide to help build our TGS community. I also love that our TGS family is so integrated across the country and that I get to be a part of this amazing growing company!
What is your fondest memory of TGS thus far?
During my training, I worked at a few of our schools across Minnesota. After working at one location for nearly eight months, I left for the summer and returned again for the fall. On the day I came back, I will never forget being rushed by students in the doorways of their classrooms. Those hugs meant the world to me.
What inspires you?
I get inspired by the “aha!” moment from both students and teachers. I love seeing little minds working through a problem, from the coordination of their first steps to reading their first words. Similarly, I love seeing a teacher make a breakthrough on better ways to support, inspire, and connect with their students.
What is your passion or passions?
My primary passion is helping others and bringing joy to those around me. I have always loved working with children, and I have recently found a passion in getting support for a team. Outside of work, I also love to take dance classes, teach in theater programs, and volunteer in the community.
What does the term “Where Learning Begins” mean to you?
I believe learning is a lifelong endeavor, and we all began somewhere. Early childhood students are natural learners with an innate curiosity about their world, and our entire team has the pleasure to stand alongside them as they explore the world and invite them into new discoveries. We not only get to prepare them academically, but we also get to elicit a passion for continued education for the rest of their lives.
How important is early childhood education?
So much development occurs in the first five years of our lives, and early childhood education takes advantage of that growth to set children up for success in all future opportunities. Early childhood education initiates the building blocks for academic success and provides daily opportunities for students to learn about social and emotional skills. In addition to practicing letters and numbers, we are learning perseverance through challenging tasks, exploring how to talk through a conflict with a friend, and discovering how we can regulate our emotions in overwhelming experiences. The focus is always on developing the whole child so they can succeed in all aspects of life.
What would you tell new parents who are apprehensive about leaving their infant in the care of someone else for the first time?
Our teachers are hired for their passion for childcare, and they receive continual training to ensure they have all the best information at their disposal. All of our staff aim to work as partners with parents to provide the best care for your child, and they ultimately want a positive environment as much as you do!

What does the term “Where Learning Begins” mean to you?
Where Learning Begins means that this is the first place children are given a positive outlook on school. This is where their perception of learning begins. It’s crucial that we teach children that learning can be fun so that they are better geared for success in the future.
How important is early childhood education?
Early childhood education is crucial. If a child learns to love learning early on, the better prepared for success they are.
