Twos

With so many physical, cognitive, and social milestones to achieve in such a short period of time, our preschool curriculum for two-year-olds encourages children to learn through exploration. Our teachers create a supportive, loving environment that fosters autonomy and self-confidence in these newly-independent and increasingly-social students.

“The two-year-old program is amazing! The teachers are caring and wonderful. My son is learning so much everyday, and he loves it so much. We even have circle time every night at home—just like school.”

Jennifer Costantini, TGS Bucktown Parent

Program Highlights

Creative Curriculum

The Creative Curriculum for Infants, Toddlers, and Twos focuses on delivering nurturing, consistent and loving interactions with our two-year-olds. For young children, meaningful and long-lasting learning requires active thinking and experimenting to find out how things work. Our two year old preschool curriculum is comprehensive and focuses on observation and assessment to help your child reach his or her highest levels of development.

Learning Centers

Classrooms are set up into learning centers, allowing children to explore areas that interest them most. Each center features such skills as language and reading, construction, home living, math, fine motor skills, art, dramatic play, science, and sensory exploration. Each area helps children gain independence by allowing them to make their own choices while gaining the developmental skills needed for future learning.

Self-Help Skills

We encourage the development of socialization and self-help skills in our two-year-old class by incorporating group play and circle time, self-guided activities, and class projects, while also encouraging independent learning and choices. Children are now beginning to learn certain autonomous skills like hand-washing, drinking from a cup, feeding themselves, zipping and unzipping one’s own jacket, and even the art of sharing and putting away toys. These tasks build confidence and independence.

Potty Training

We understand that potty training is a very important milestone in a child’s development, and it’s critical to only encourage this transition when the child is ready. Typically, potty training begins in our two-year-old program. Our staff will work with you and your child over a two-to-three-week period, accomplishing training milestones each day, and will communicate their progress with you so you can continue at home.

Parent Communications

We understand the importance of staying connected to your child while at school. With real-time daily updates, photos, and notifications through our parent communications emails and app, our teachers take time to communicate every piece of your child’s day. Through child assessments, phone calls, and teacher/parent conferences, TGS enables and encourages our parents to be an active part of their child’s educational experience.

Enrichment Programs

By the age of two, children can now take part in most enrichment classes offered on-site. These focused, small-group classes supplement our two-year-old preschool curriculum and vary from school to school, but may include dance, computers, music and drama, foreign language, karate, sports skills, or cooking. This is a chance for kids to begin to develop and show their personal interests under the guidance of skilled professionals.
